Automated Klaviyo Audit vs. Agency Audit: Which Do You Need?

There are two ways to find out what is wrong with your Klaviyo account: run an automated audit, or hire someone to go through it by hand. They are not competing options. They solve different problems, and knowing which one you need saves time and money.
What an automated audit is good at
An automated audit is fast, free or low cost, and directional. It connects to your account, checks the same handful of things every time (deliverability setup, flow coverage, list health), and gives you a score and a prioritized list in a couple of minutes. It is the right first move any time you are not sure whether something is actually wrong, or whether you are just being paranoid.
What it cannot do
An automated audit checks patterns. It does not know your margins, your seasonality, your CAC, or the context behind why a flow was built a certain way. It will not write your segmentation strategy, will not touch your account to fix anything, and will not tell you which of five problems to solve first if you only have bandwidth for one this month.
What a full agency audit adds
A human strategist looks at the same data plus everything an automated tool cannot see: your business goals, your team's capacity, what has already been tried and failed, and how your email marketing system fits into the rest of your funnel. The output is not just a list of gaps, it is a plan, usually with someone accountable for executing it.
What about Klaviyo's own "Audit Your Flows"?
Klaviyo now ships a native tool that scans your account and offers to build missing flows from a template. It's genuinely useful, and it's free — there's no reason not to run it. But it only sees what's inside Klaviyo. It has no visibility into your domain's SPF or DMARC records, because that authentication setup lives in DNS, not in your Klaviyo account. A brand can have every flow Klaviyo's tool would approve of and still be landing in spam because of something the tool structurally cannot check.
It also only runs when you open it. It won't notice three months from now if your DMARC policy lapses or your sender reputation starts sliding — there's no reason for Klaviyo to build a feature that tells you something is wrong with sending through Klaviyo.
A simple way to decide
Run the automated audit first. It is free and takes two minutes, so there is no reason not to. If the score comes back strong and the fixes are things you or your team can knock out yourselves, you are done. If the score is low, the fixes touch strategy and not just configuration, or you simply do not have the bandwidth to execute, that is the signal to bring in a strategist.
- Score looks fine, fixes are small: handle it yourself, re-run monthly
- Score is low, fixes are mechanical: work the list top to bottom
- Score is low, fixes require strategy or you're out of bandwidth: bring in a human

FlowScore and Signify Studio are both built by the same team. That is not an accident. FlowScore exists because most brands need the free, fast version first, and a smaller number need the deeper version after. Run a free FlowScore audit to see which situation you're in.
